| Here
are two doves I bought Alison for Christmas in 2001. Every now &
then we would watch my mothers Parakeet looking bird while my parents
were out of town. This bird is loud and obnoxious and NEVER SHUTS UP!
Alison commented more than once how she liked having the bird around.
I decided to head this problem off at the pass. I figured I would come
home one day and find a bird of our own squawking away in the kitchen.

So I decided to ge a few birds that were a lot quieter. I remember
back in college there was an outdoor shop I bought all my caving and climbing
gear from that had a set of Ring Neck Doves in a cage in the corner. The
whole time you were shopping they dove made a nice out doors like
atmosphere. I initially looked for Ring-Necks but could not find any.
I found a place that stocked all kinds of outdoor birds like doves, roosters,
quail, and all. I saw these two doves and Christmas was now taken care
of. |

It didn't take long before this pair started laying eggs. We
now have three. The second egg in this photo never hatched. Neither
did a couple of other sets of eggs. We don't know why.
